overview

destruqtor is a companding distortion/saturation/exciter plugin. Unlike traditional distortion, destruqtor applies expanding compression before the waveshaper and an opposite compression after the effect, which preserves and emphasises transients and adds more warmth to your sounds without sacrificing dynamic range.

Even & Odd

Control even and odd harmonics individually. From classic softclipping and warm tube-like saturations to complete destruction of the signal

Low & High Cutoff

Choose what frequencies to apply distortion to while bypassing other frequencies, useful for subtle saturation effects without completely destroying the low end

Dynamic Range

destruqtor is a companding distortion, meaning it preverses dynamic range, unlike what traditional distortion/clipping does

Antialiased

destruqtor has a built-in 8x oversampling and in addition to that it uses ADAA algorithm, reducing aliasing distortion and achieving more harmonic sound

Gain Compensation

destruqtor has a gain compensation mechanism that sets the gain automatically based on the source material (double click the VU meter), and an additional gain parameter for more manual control

Minimal UI

Cute and easy to navigate interface. Dark & light modes. Freely resizable :3

ui overview

Hover over UI elements to read more

Volume Meter

  • Shows RMS and peak levels of input (outer ring) and output (inner ring)
  • Double click on it to adjust the Gain so loudness of the output matches the input based on the last 5 seconds of the audio

Even/Odd

  • The main XY pad, controls the amount of even (X axis) and odd (Y axis) harmonics to add
  • Supports 2D scrolling, holding ALT while scrolling switches the axes
  • ALT + Click resets it back to zero

Low & High Cutoff

  • Controls which frequencies are fed into the distortion, audio content outside that range is passed through unaffected
  • ALT + Click resets it back to zero

Resize

  • Drag this to make the interface however large or small you want

Dark/Light Mode

  • Switch between a dark mode or a light mode if you like it :3

Gain

  • A simple output gain control, useful for manual gain matching
  • Hold CTRL for finer control
  • ALT + Click resets it back to zero

Dry/Wet

  • Global mix control, applied after the Gain (gain is not applied when the mix is at 0%)
  • Hold CTRL for finer control
  • ALT + Click resets it back to zero
